Martin Smith mechanical sculpture is some of the most unique art I've ever seen. He is a superior expert in this medium. While not an artist myself, I very much appreciate good art, especially art that is different. Martin Smith art if very different indeed.
I especially like Smith's piece, The Clown. His Wannabe Whippets are just the coolest things since high speed Internet. I like his Whippets that are dogs that look like their owners. The dogs have wire bodies. This is the medium Martin Smith uses. How neat these are! Smith is truly one of the greatest experts in his art and his style is so terribly unique. Some of it is on display at Wysing Arts Cambridge and The Collins Gallery, Glasgow. Martin Smith has a real gift and is truly talented. Check out his broad range of artwork.
You can argue the pros and cons of different types of artists all you want. But you have to admit that Martin Smith art is truly unique and striking.
Another site I like is Bandwidth Speed Test site. Sometimes my Internet connection seems slower than the old dialup I used to have! And I have cable and I also have a T1 line in my office. So I certainly have adequate bandwidth. It just seems like it doesn't move sometimes.
The first step towards improving your connection is being able to measure your connection speed at any time.
Does your Internet connection sometimes seem like it's slow as molasses? Well, give it a bandwidth test and see how fast or how slow you're really going. You can also host your own sites like the bandwidth experts do. All you have to do is to set up some simple HTML code on your own site. Then you can provide your visitors with the ability to test their own bandwidth speed.
If your connection continues to be too slow, you should probably call your Internet provider. You may be paying for speed that you're not getting.
Another site that is absolutely necessary to all online merchants is The Chargeback Bureau. It could keep you from doing business with a bad client. According to the site, "Our mission is to share information about customers with chargeback habits, so you can protect yourself before the sale is complete." Since chargebacks cost Internet merchants and service providers so much money and time, you should see this database and arm yourselves against bad clients. You can list your own bad customers here, especially those who have done chargebacks on your merchant account or your PayPal account. You can also report refunds or fraud and read the experiences of others.
You can avoid scams including chargebacks, theft and fraud among other things if you know the online business people who seem to do these things on a regular basis.
While we're on the subject, if you suspect someone online has committed fraud, you can file a complaint at The National Internet Fraud Watch. You can also call the fraud hotline at 1-800-876-7060.
Another online tool that I use all the time is the Meta Tag Analyzer. There are a number of these online but I prefer this one. It tells you if your tag has too many characters for the various bots and shows you any errors. In addition, it gives you a very useful analysis of your Web page.
I love reading about gangsters, criminals, crooks and gangland in general. I guess it's because they're so much like business people only they settle their arguments with a gun instead of a lawsuit. So one site I hit frequently is Gangland news.
Gangland News is Jerry Capeci's site and no one knows gangsters and criminals like he does. If you want to read all the gossip and dish and real news about your neighborhood gangster, read Jerry Capeci's site.
. . . and then there's culture.
Although I can't act my way out of a paper bag, my mother was a director and actress off broadway. We used to spend time on the west coast and I lived in California for quite a few years. One of my favorite places is the La Jolla Playhouse in La Jolla, CA. You can see who is on the current tour here.
d'ART, Fine Art. A nice place where I hang out sometimes to check the value of various pieces of artwork and also find out the background of art.
I love fine architecture and I'm a fan of Frank Lloyd Wright. We have a Wright house here in Wichita in the College Hill district that I've admired since I was a girl. It was built in 1915 in his Prairie Style. Prairie houses were characterized by low, horizontal lines that were meant to blend with the flat landscape around them. Typically, these structures were built around a central chimney, consisted of broad open spaces instead of strictly defined rooms, and deliberately blurred the distinction between interior space and the surrounding terrain.
This site has lovely photos of his houses, inside and out.
